April UPDATE - Diane Grunwell, Social Events & Activities Chair

Please note:  As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, all PROBUS meetings, events and activities have been suspended until further notice.

March started off in the usual way, with many of our Social Activity Groups getting together and having fun.

Our Breakfast Social was on March 4th at “Neabors” in Lindsay - the group was a little smaller this time (it fell on the same morning as the Bobcaygeon Club’s start up meeting), but those who attended enjoyed good food and good conversation, as always.

The following day, our Arts & Culture group got together at the Colborne Street Gallery for their monthly social. Lead Cathie Anders told me that “Darcie Kennedy talked to them about the Beaver Hall painters – mainly a group of female artists ahead of their time prior to WW1 who fought the norms of the time to express themselves.” The group has plans to visit local galleries in the future.

And on Friday, March 6th, Sheri Allen organized a snowshoe hike at Devil’s Lake. She said “it was a small but mighty group. The trail was in good shape as we even had to break trail on a portion of it. We also found a nice crop of ice circles. Gorgeous day and fun was had by all!”

Euchre and Stitch N Bitch also had get-togethers early in the month before all Social Activity Groups were suspended. Events have also been suspended/postponed and refunds will be provided at a future date for any events that cannot be rescheduled, i.e. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”.

We need to keep ourselves busy over the next little while and get involved in as many “activities” as we can. These will be in our own homes, of course, but let’s share with each other what we are doing. See below for details about the Activity Challenge!

Please keep healthy and safe until we next see each other.
